Former Moncton Mets player and coach, and retired teacher, Bob Bowser, has written a self-published book about baseball in Moncton.
FROM THE AUTHOR: The book covers the initial eight years (1984-1991) of the Moncton Mets franchise, including their six provincial championships, four Atlantic titles, and a national bronze medal.
The book also tells the story of a few successful seasons of the Moncton Keefe Cubs junior team during this era, who took home three provincial and two Atlantic championships, and the Moncton Tim Hortons midget team, who won a national gold medal and a national bronze medal.
There are chapters that recap specific seasons, as well as chapters that examine individual local players, imports, former and future major leaguers, and the players added from around the province for various tournaments. Comments from lots of baseball personalities from around the province are included in most chapters.
The self-published book will be printed in May and the cost will be approximately $25 (final cost determined by number of copies ordered). Profits from the book will be donated to Moncton Minor Baseball.
